Inphant Elefant was established in the Spring of 2002, " I was inspired by the birth of my first son in 2001. It was difficult to find anything that was soft, cute, handcrafted, or made in the USA. Being a stay home mom is important to me, it made perfect sense to start my own line." - Kristi Schmidt, founder of Inphant Elefant.
In 2004 Inphant Elefant was featured on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," titled "Worlds Biggest Baby Shower." The show was filmed at Fort Campbell Army base in Kentucky. Over 640 pregnant moms enjoyed gifts and musical performances from Kenny Chesney, and Martina McBride. It was a fabulous day and show; the moms love their Inphant Elefant Blankets.
Currently, Inphant Elefant has made a joint endeavor with The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) a world renowned charity in Kenya. The DSWT rescues and rehabilitates orphan elephants, most of whom have lost their mothers to the sad and illegal ivory trade that claims the life of an African Elephant every 15 minutes. The orphans remain in the care of the DSWT until they are ready to return to the wild. A portion of the proceeds from every blanket sale will be donated to "U.S. Friends Of The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust," in support of the Orphans Project.
According to the trust "those that were orphaned too young to recall their elephant family remain dependent longer, but all the Trust’s orphans eventually take their rightful place amongst their wild counterparts, including those orphaned on the day they were born."
Inphant Elefant is committed to social responsibility, while bringing the highest handcrafted, sustainable, made in the USA product. We are confident every piece will be a family keepsake. A blanket must have, favorite to many clientele.
